Awareness Meeting on World Standards Day
Lions Club Ajmer Sarvodaya and National Centre for Quality Management, Ajmer Centre jointly organized an "Awareness Meeting" on 14 October 2009 at Indoor Stadium, Ajmer. The theme of the awareness meeting was "Tackling Climate Change through Standards". About 25 participants attended the meeting including representatives from industry, academicians, lion members, senior citizens, students, Rotarian etc. Local newspapers and local channels covered the programme.
Shri Som Ratna Arya (Deputy Mayor of the Nagar Nigam Ajmer) presided the meeting. Professor Kailash Chandra Sharma (Former Vice-Chancellor, presently Director Research and Head, Department of Environmental Studies, MDS University, Ajmer) and Mr. H. Jena (Territory Manager, Bharat Petroleum, Ajmer) were the chief guest and special guest respectively. MJF Lion Navin Sogani (also individual member of NCQM) organized the meeting as convenor.
'World Standards Day' message (issued by ISO, IEC and ITU) was read by Shri Abhinav Sharma. Paper on "ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System - For Better Trade and Better Environment", written by Dr, Divya Singhal, was read by Mrs. Shirin J. Thomas. NCQM Ajmer Centre Coordinator Keshav Ram Singhal presented the paper "How standards offer practical tools for addressing climate change".
Lion Navin Sogani pointed out the importance of the 'World Standards Day' and stated that the day is celebrated on 14 October each year in honour of thousands of experts worldwide, who have devoted their time and energy for developing and implementing standards. Details about the activities of NCQM were also advised by Lion Navin Sogani, K. R. Singhal and Mrs. Shirin J. Thomas during their address respectively.
Professor K. C. Sharma commented that terrorism and rising temperature have become global issues and it is necessary to address these issues for the benefit of whole world. He stressed on the importance of standards for addressing climate change.
Shri H. K. Jena said that global warming has become the issue which requires top most attention and we should take all suitable steps to control global warming.
Shri Som Ratna Arya summed up the thoughts on the issue, stressed the need of good environment and thanked Lions Club Ajmer Sarvodaya and National Centre for Quality Management, Ajmer Centre to organize such awareness meeting on the topic of high importance.

On the pre-evening of Service Week, on 1 October 2009, participated in Senior Citizens Society Function in the honour of senior citizens at Government College, Ajmer.

Activities – August 2009 Report
Lion K. R. Singhal, Lion Pankaj Khanna and MJF Lion Navin Sogani from our club attended District Installation Ceremony At Medical College, Kota on 2 August 2009. MJF Lion Navin Sogani and Lion Rajendra Mundra from our club have been installed as District Chairperson – Services for Children and Region Coordinator (Region – IV) – Youth Opportunities respectively. District dues deposited on 2 August 2009.
Designing work started on 3 August 2009 for developing webpages of the club. Club web pages http://lionsclubajmersarvodaya.blogspot.com uploaded with an appeal “Light up a life with the gift of your blood’ and General Information about the club on 4 August 2009. Formal inauguration of club’s web pages was done by Past District Governor Lion O. L. Dave, who appreciated the efforts of the club.
Club in association with Maharshi International School, Ajmer organized seminar on Environmental Awareness for students and carried out plantation of about 100 plants in the school and nearby area on 10 August 2009.
There is a need to create awareness to protect human beings against Swine Flu – Influenza A (H1N1). Relevant information about Swine Flu posted on 11 August 2009 at club’s web pages at http://lionsclubajmersarvodaya.blogspot.com
Board meeting organized on 12 August 2009. Took decisions regarding Independence Day Celebration, Picnic, Service Sunday and other service projects.
Assisted Kids Era School in organizing Janmashtami Celebration and ‘Radha-Krishna Bano Pratiyogita’ on 13 August 2009. Distributed sweets to students and awards provided by the club.
Independence Day Celebration and Flag hosting organized at Vijay Laxmi Park, Ajmer at 8 am on 15 August 2009 in association with Lions Club Ajmer West.
Family Picnic and club members’ meeting organized at Shri Bhagirath Choudhary Farm, Pushkar on 15 August 2009. Family picnic organized in association with Lions Club Ajmer West.
Service Sunday Project carried out at Badhir Vidhyalaya, Vaishali Nagar Ajmer on 16 August 2009 by distributing fruits to students.
An appeal “WE MUST DISARM” online voting campaign posted at club’s web pages on 25 August 2009. Many lion leaders, members and public members have supported online voting campign. We received positive response.
Plantation Project of more than 200 plants carried out at Saraswati Secondary School, Subhash Nagar, Ajmer on 26 August 2009 in association with Dainik Bhaskar, a leading daily. Plants were also distributed to students.
Service project – Water Tank Fittings installation carried out at Govt. Primary School, Delhi Gate – Navin, Ajmer on 29 August 2009. Note books and stationery distributed to students. To motivate students Lion K. R. Singhal and Lion Navin Sogani told motivating stories.
